Terms and conditions & refund policy

Clare Dog Training Ireland

These Terms and Conditions form a legally binding contract between the client (“you”) and Clare Dog Training Ireland (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking any service with Clare Dog Training Ireland, you agree in full to the following terms and policies. These are published and accessible on our website and are governed by Irish law.

1. Booking and Payment Policy

Payment is required to confirm and secure any booking.

Once a verbal agreement is made by phone or in person, and payment is received, the booking is confirmed and the client is bound by these Terms and Conditions.

It is your responsibility to review and understand these Terms and Conditions, which are publicly available on our website at the time of booking.

Payments are non-refundable once made and the booking is confirmed, except where a refund is due under your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law.

2. Rescheduling Policy

”You are permitted to reschedule your appointment once, and this must be done within one month of the original cancelled date”

Rescheduling is subject to mutual agreement and availability.
Any attempt to reschedule beyond this one-month period will not be valid and will be considered a forfeiture of the original booking.

In order to reschedule, any outstanding balance must be fully paid in advance of the new appointment.

Rescheduling will not be accepted or confirmed unless the full amount has been paid by or on the day of rescheduling.

Further rescheduling will not be permitted. Missed or unattended rescheduled appointments will result in forfeiture of payment.

3. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Clare Dog Training Ireland operates under a strict no-refund policy.

Cancellations for any reason initiated by the client—including changes of mind, client or dog illness, or scheduling conflicts—do not qualify for refunds. This is without prejudice to any statutory rights to a refund where Clare Dog Training fails to provide the service in accordance with these terms and Irish law.

Services are considered non-refundable once booked and paid for, whether or not the training has commenced or been delivered, provided Clare Dog Training is willing and able to deliver the service as per these terms and Irish law.

This policy allows us to provide professional time management and ensures fairness across all clients.

Appointment Delays, Rescheduling, and Client-Side Cancellation

While Clare Dog Training is committed to punctuality, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally result in delays. These include, but are not limited to: sudden illness arising between the time of booking and the day of the appointment, technical faults affecting mobile communication or navigation, veterinary emergencies involving dogs under Clare Dog Training’s care, traffic incidents, heavy traffic delays, and poor road conditions.

In such situations, the client will be informed as early as reasonably possible. If the trainer remains willing and able to attend the appointment within a reasonable time, and the service is still offered in good faith, no refund will apply, as this does not constitute a cancellation or failure to deliver under Irish law.

If the delay causes inconvenience, the appointment will be rescheduled at the earliest mutually suitable time, at no additional cost to the client. However, if the client chooses not to proceed and cancels the appointment—even after an offer to attend or reschedule has been made—this will be treated as a client-side cancellation, and no refund or compensation will be due.

This clause complies fully with the Consumer Rights Act 2022, the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980, and applicable contract law in Ireland. Clare Dog Training operates in line with these legal standards to ensure fair and transparent service delivery for all clients.

4. Client Responsibility and Participation

You are required to follow all instructions, guidance, and safety procedures provided by Clare Dog Training Ireland.

Clients are also responsible for ensuring their dog is in suitable health, free from illness, and able to participate in training.

If a client refuses to follow guidance or fails to meet safety and participation standards, Clare Dog Training Ireland reserves the right to terminate services.

5. Legal Basis and Commercial Protection

Clare Dog Training Ireland operates as a lawful sole trader business within the Republic of Ireland, in accordance with the following Irish legislation:

Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980

Consumer Protection Act 2007

Consumer Rights Act 2022

Contract Law in Ireland

Irish law allows service providers to adopt and enforce a no-refund policy for reasons such as change of mind or client-initiated cancellations, provided that such a policy is clearly stated and publicly accessible on our official website in advance of any purchase being made. This policy is designed to be fully compliant with, and does not override, your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2022.”

1. “The relevant policy is clearly stated and publicly visible on our official website in advance of any purchase being made.”

2. “Customers have full and fair access to this information prior to making any booking or payment.”

3. “It is the customer’s sole responsibility to review all publicly available information before confirming a service, and proceeding with payment is taken as acceptance.”

Clare Dog Training Ireland meets and adheres to all these legal obligations. We reserve the right to enforce these terms in accordance with Irish commercial and consumer law.

6. Agreement and Acceptance

By making a booking and proceeding with payment, you confirm that you:

Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions.

Acknowledge that payment is non-refundable once made, except where a refund is due under your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law.

Accept that these terms were publicly available and accessible prior to booking.

Agree to be bound by these terms under Irish law.

7. Cancellation Exemption – Fixed-Date Bookings

At Clare Dog Training Ireland, we operate in full compliance with Irish and EU consumer protection legislation.

Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU and Ireland’s S.I. No. 484/2013, consumers who purchase services remotely (e.g. online, phone, message) are typically entitled to a 14-day cancellation period — also known as the cooling-off period — where they may cancel without reason.

However, an important legal exemption applies to services like ours.

 No Automatic Right to Cancel

When you book a training session with Clare Dog Training Ireland, you are booking a fixed-date, time-specific service. This means the service is excluded by law from the 14-day cancellation rule.

Under Article 16(l) of the Consumer Rights Directive and Regulation 13(2)(l) of Irish law, the cooling-off period does not apply to:

> “contracts for the provision of accommodation, transport of goods, car rental services, catering or services relating to leisure activities, where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.”

Dog training & Dog behavioural service are considered a leisure-related service that is scheduled for a specific date, and therefore:

You do not have an automatic right to cancel.

You are not entitled to a refund after booking.

This policy is fully supported by Irish and EU law.

It is the same exemption used by hotels, therapists, and event providers.

Terms & Conditions Are Publicly Available

Under Irish law, we are not required to read out or physically provide printed Terms & Conditions at the time of booking. It is your responsibility to read them if you wish. Once you book:

You are deemed to have accepted our terms.

The terms are publicly available at any time.

This meets all legal requirements and consumer rights obligations.

8. At Clare Dog Training Ireland, we operate under the protections of the Defamation Act 2009 (No. 31 of 2009) — the governing law in Ireland which safeguards individuals and businesses from false accusations, misleading claims, and both slander (spoken) and libel (written or published). Any attempt to damage our professional reputation through the publication or communication of false, misleading, or malicious statements — whether online, in print, in person, or via social media — will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to false online reviews, fabricated allegations, misleading commentary, or any content designed to harm our credibility, integrity, or standing within the community.

Such actions are taken extremely seriously under Irish civil law. Where necessary, legal proceedings may be initiated to protect our name, reputation, and the integrity of our business. We are committed to maintaining the highest professional standards, and we expect the same level of respect and fairness in any public or private commentary relating to our services. While we are always open to resolving concerns directly and amicably with the parties involved, under the Defamation Act 2009 we reserve the right to pursue damages, legal costs, and any other remedies available to us in law for the protection of our professional name.

9. Booking & Payment

All bookings with Clare Dog Training Ireland are made following a phone consultation, during which the full service, visit details, and agreed goals will be clearly explained. Once agreed, payment is required to secure your booking. We do not cold call or randomly contact dog owners — all clients must initiate contact directly with Clare Dog Training Ireland.

Service Scope & Delivery

Our service consists of a one-off, one-to-one private visit to your home, tailored to your specific needs and the agreed training objectives. This visit is non-hurried, and we will not leave until you are fully aware of what to do and your puppy or dog is already responding and fitting into the plan. Clare Dog Training Ireland holds full Pet Business Insurance and Public Liability Insurance to ensure both you and your dog are protected at all times.

Following the first visit, lifetime support is available by phone consultation only. Revisits are offered solely at the discretion of Clare Dog Training Ireland, based on the gravity of the case or ongoing struggle. In most situations, a phone conversation is sufficient to put you back on track after the comprehensive initial session.

Communication & Third Parties
Communication is welcomed as part of lifetime support but should be kept to short messages for arranging calls, followed by a phone conversation. Long or repeated text messages will not be entertained as a substitute for direct discussion.

Clare Dog Training Ireland will not accept calls, messages, or queries from third parties who were not present during the consultation. This includes individuals attempting to question the session, training methods, or pricing after the fact. All communication must be between Clare Dog Training Ireland and the person who booked the service and was present during the consultation.

Client Requirements
You must be a minimum of 25 years of age, of sound mind, and capable of making informed decisions regarding your dog’s care and training. Clare Dog Training Ireland cannot assume knowledge of any medical or psychological history unless disclosed before booking. If you are considered a vulnerable person, an immediate family member must be present throughout the consultation to ensure clarity and mutual understanding.

Professional Standards & Animal Welfare
Clare Dog Training Ireland decides how the service is provided, ensuring that all clients are treated fairly and all puppies and dogs receive the utmost care in line with animal welfare standards. All training is carried out with the sole aim of improving the dog’s well-being. Any changes to the agreed training programme must be discussed with Clare Dog Training Ireland; changes made outside of our guidance will not be supported if they are found to compromise the dog’s rehabilitation or welfare.
